SELF Fitness South Bay embraces a healthy lifestyle; We have two studios in one boutique location; SELF Fitness HIIT studio #15 and SELF Zen studio #7. We want you to achieve your fitness goals as efficiently as possible.

We provide intense workouts with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) group classes at our SELF HIIT studio. HIIT is the most effective workout because it combines intense work followed by rest and recovery. Our HIIT classes incorporate cardio and strength equipment into a one hour workout that will get you in the best shape of your life. We provide the latest equipment and a variety of HIIT training to keep your body guessing. You will never take the same class twice at SELF Fitness HIIT!

 SELF Zen studio provides retreat and recovery of mind & body with yoga classes. We offer a variety of one hour yoga classes including vinyasa flow, kundalini yoga and yoga sculpt. Our yoga classes incorporate strength, flexibility, sculpting, relaxation and mindfulness into your healthy lifestyle. We encourage clients to round out their fitness routines with weekly yoga classes; it allows recovery of achy muscles and decreases stress and anxiety.     About
    Owner/ Instructor

    Kate is a Doctor of Pharmacy and practices at a local pharmacy. She is a certified personal and group fitness trainer. She is also certified in PIYO. Dedicated to healthcare and fitness, she loves to stay active, be a part of the South Bay and is excited to offer a workout she truly believes in! She is known for her killer cardio! She loves building the community at SELF and thinks life is all about finding people who are your kind of crazy! You will hear Kate say: It never gets easier you just get better!

  • Michelle Bernier

    Trainer

    Michelle is a certified personal and group fitness trainer with experience in strength training, swimming, dancing and aerial arts. She is known for her sweet smile and voice but don’t let it fool you; she gives a killer HIIT workout that will leave you feeling unstoppable! You will hear Michelle say: Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are (Brene Brown).

    Mandy is a certified personal trainer experienced in strength training, group Barre and group HIIT classes. She loves to share her passion, knowledge and experience in fitness and healthcare with others. Her high energy and positivity is contagious! Her goal: To help others get a challenging workout and have the most fun possible. She is realistic, encouraging, and feels there is no better way to workout than by taking a class with buddies! She wants you to love AND slightly hate her at the end of class! You will hear Mandy say: If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do keep moving forward (Martin L King).

    Chelsea is a certified group fitness instructor and a registered yoga teacher. As a former collegiate athlete there is a fire in Chelsea that will always burn, craving a tough workout. Throughout her athletic career she dealt with injury forcing her to understand the importance of balance in the body. This understanding led to her love for Vinyasa yoga. Chelsea is passionate about encompassing a well rounded, happy and healthy lifestyle. She enjoys sharing her pursuit and helping others find heir own version of it!     Robert is a certified personal and group fitness trainer; He has over 20 years of fitness experience in the South Bay area and could be called our “Fitness Mayor”. Robert’s passion and love for snowboarding, mountain biking and surfing make him an expert instructor that focuses on strength, conditioning and balance! He will bring out the competitor in you! He is our team builder and will be giving you a high five throughout class. You will hear Robert say: Be so good they can’t ignore you!

    Megan is a certified personal trainer as well as a nutrition coach and loves creating both personalized workout programs and meal plans for her clients. While she is experienced in strength and hypertrophy training, she is mostly known for her love of cardio thanks to her triathlete background. Megan urges everyone to pursue their goals and you will hear her say: "Life is short. Live your dream and share your passion"

    "There is no way that you cannot be what you already are"  quote by Linda Ananda ॐ Linda is always pointing to the openness of Being whether teaching Yoga, Meditation or Reiki with the only goals for her sharing being an opening for all to experience even more happiness, joy and freedom in their lives. As authenticity and transparency are at the heart of her teaching, her own openness allows you to also fully relax and surrender to whatever is present without resistance or judgment. Teaching Yoga since March 2015 (RYT-200), Meditation since 2003 and Reiki since 2002, Linda has a deep love for teaching and sharing from her own experience and not relying on anything else!  She teaches the following Yoga styles: Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Gentle and Beginner and loves working with people brand new to yoga as well as the experienced yogis. A South Bay resident since Feb. 2012, Linda's wish is to serve the community she lives in and offers Reiki sessions and training, as well as private yoga and meditation sessions for all South Bay residents.

    Dustin’s love for people and true acceptance of each person’s spiritual evolution is deeply rooted in his being. Growing up in a military family provided Dustin with a unique view of the world and an opportunity to learn about, and to embrace, all people for who they are. Wanting to help people in need, Dustin pursued a career as a firefighter. Shortly after graduating from the Academy he seriously injured his spine, whereby drastically changing his life’s trajectory. Since his injury, Dustin has been on a path to rebuild his life. He has spent years searching for relief from the constant pain and fatigue he was experiencing as a result of his injury. After exploring and trying seemingly every solution, which was ultimately ineffective, Dustin found Kundalini Yoga. In his words, “the only self-sustainable practice that keeps up with the speed of life.” His mission is to help heal those who have run out of answers. He’s been a Kundalini practitioner for over ten years and has loved every minute. As a musician, he brings a holistic and energetic vibration to your experience through playing guitar, whereby enhancing the freeing and beautiful technology of Kundalini Yoga.

    Lizzie took her first yoga class in 2007 and instantly saw how the practice could benefit every aspect of her life. Practicing yoga has made Lizzie a stronger, more confident and more compassionate individual - this is what motivates her to share her love of yoga with others. In every class, Lizzie strives to connect with students to help them create a mindful yet challenging practice, free from judgement or expectation. Weaving in her experiences as educator, college advisor, independent musician, and most recently new mom, Lizzie aims to help others find what they are seeking through the practice of yoga while creating good vibrations in every class.     Nina Mandic is a 200 hour certified and registered yoga instructor. Her practice began 11 years ago when she took her first class and immediately felt at home. Her classes will take you on a journey of connecting mind, body, and spirit. Each class offers students the opportunity to let go and really tune in to listening to their bodies and pushing to the edge. Each class will challenge you but modifications are always welcomed. Nina's healing energy provides a space for her students to feel completely present. "The best way to uplift our own lives is to do everything we can to uplift the lives of others."

    My good girlfriend took me to my first meaningful yoga class many years ago right here in Redondo Beach. The instructor inspired me! It was Yoga Vinyasa Flow or simply put, Power Yoga. I felt stressed out, weak and my muscles were super tight. Yet when I left my mind and body were so relaxed and I was determined to keep coming. I knew I wanted to cultivate my new sense of peace, strength and flexibility. I have now been teaching yoga since 2005. Yoga can be a very personal experience to each individual and I honor that. I enjoy sharing my positive experience of yoga, breaking boundaries and reaching new goals with all my students. I hope to see you in class, Namaste!

    Nea is a Yoga Alliance Certified, Registered Yoga Teacher. She first practiced yoga as a child with her grandmother, who  taught her at a young age to ground herself. Growing up in a small town where no yoga studios were accessible, she practiced using a set of VCR tapes and a book. Eventually, her life led her to a larger city with access to mentors and the ability to train to become a teacher. Nea has been practicing yoga for over 9 years now, and she believes that anyone should be able to practice yoga regardless of their location, age, or any limitation.  She has used her own practice to overcome physical injuries and is dedicated to helping her students with their physical and mental journeys. You will hear Nea say, “No one is perfect. That is why we practice.”

    Yoga found Carrie over two decades ago and has led to her dedication to intense, independent practice, research and study. Carrie was born and raised in Montreal. Carrie has studied under some of the world’s most prominent yoga teachers. Currently, Carrie has over 1,400 hours of training, including 500-hour RYT yogayorks certified. Carrie completed a 362-hour teacher-training program in India under Dr. Senthil Kumar at an Ayurvedic Hospital. This path took Carrie to India to travel and study for 4 months in southern and northern India, and on that journey indescribable change took place. The thirst for healing, studying and self-discovery unfolded and a fire was ignited to dedicate her life to further study and practice. *Carrie is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance

    Carolyn's love for yoga blossomed from a weekly lunchtime class offered through the company she was working for at the time. Her passion grew even further after moving across the world to Sydney where she dove deeper into her vinyasa practice. After realizing she wanted to share the gift of yoga with others, she left her corporate gig to teach full time. Her classes incorporate movement, breath, music and, most importantly, fun! She aims to leave students feeling better about themselves and their bodies, and it's an added bonus if she can get you to crack a smile. Carolyn truly believes yoga is for every body and embodies the idea that "where your intention goes, the energy flows".

Your flow will focus on weight-bearing standing poses, which build the heat necessary to aid stretching. After getting your endorphins going we will take you through a relaxation state focusing on your breath and mindfulness. This class is designed for all levels; beginners are given direction and our yoga experts are given challenges.

Kundalini Yoga Class is a blend of spiritual and physical movement. It incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantra. You will build physical vitality and increase consciousness. Kundalini yoga is designed for all levels and for the open-minded clients.

Yoga Sculpt is a total body yoga class that incorporates yoga postures, light weight training, plyometrics and sculpting exercises. This class will boost your metabolism and build long lean muscle. It is a real BURNER designed for all ages and levels.

Restorative Flow is your yoga style if you want to calm and center your body. It incorporates a relaxing flow with breath and alignment. It is a great class to take after a HIIT class to restore and stretch your achy muscles. Restorative flow will allow you to work harder in your next HIIT class bc you are rejuvenated. Baptiste Power Yoga This powerful and energetic power-yoga style founded by Baron Baptiste is designed to stimulate your mind and body while improving strength, flexibility and overall vitality. This class connects breath to movement in a dynamic series of postures. This class will leave you feeling accomplished and empowered! The class has 3 main elements: postures, meditation and transformation. Class is for all levels. We provide yoga mats.
